Welcome

Welcome to the ERIS website

Bienvenue sur le site de l'équipe ERIS

The ERIS (Equipe Raisonnement Induction Statistique) ceased to exist in 2013, all its members being now retired.

ERIS members were researchers from the C.N.R.S. ("Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique") and the "Université de Rouen". The ERIS team was animated by Bruno Lecoutre ("directeur de recherche" C.N.R.S.). It was based on the complementary of normative researches on statistical inference (especially the Bayesian model) and psychological researches on cognitive processes involved in uncertainty situations.

Whenever possible, We remain at your disposal for all matters concerning our past research activities.

Objective of statistical researches

To develop statistical inference methods
especially for analyzing experimental data in social sciences and clinical trials in medicine and pharmacology.

The abuses of interpretation of significance tests
There is interval and interval!

To produce statistical software
that implements these methods.

I have the test statistic, can I get an interval?

To diffuse these methods
Teaching, training, consulting, etc.,

Objective of psychological researches

To better know the use of statistical methods
from experimental situations on inductive reasoning and decision making.

Even statisticians...
What is the probability of finding again...

To better know probabilistic judgments
from purely random situations (games of chance, drawings from a jar...).

A problem with socks

To better know the representations of randomness
from the study of various situations of uncertainty.

There is random and random
